Mountain biking, running, working… For the mountain biker and trail runner, bring your bike and pack in your running shoes. There is a wide range of different terrain suitable for cycling or running and lots of fresh air and beautiful scenery. For those whp just want to go on a stroll, bring along your walking shoes and stick(s). Take a walk, cycle or even run into town and enjoy a hearty breakfast on the stoop of the Royal Hotel.
For those who prefer the not-so-active side, leisure around the pool or get lost in your readibg in a sunny spot in the lounge, in the garden or the stoep or just lie in and catch up on some lost sleep or well needed rest.
Draaikrans… Also situated on Noorspoort, this exceptional geological formation has drawn people from far places. It is within walking distance from the Main Homestead – about 2 km. This rock formation is about 60 million years old and was formed when suitable temperatures and pressures bent horizontal sedimentary layers into the folds we see today.
- Valley of the Flags… Steytlerville is justifiably proud of its Valley of the Flags. Painted by members of the Craven family and Tourism Association over the past 30 years on rock faces bordering the R329 that runs through Noorspoort. Nowhere else in the world, as far as is known, is something similar or equivalent to be found.
- Steytlerville Family Crests… The family crests in Main Street is another example of something unique. Traditional Steytlerville families of all creeds and colours may be viewed.
- Open-air Museum… The farming equipment of yore remind us of a period when rainfall was more plentiful than now.
- NG Church… Possibly the church with the largest floor area in South Africa.
- War Museum…Right in the centre of town this monument was erected to the South African soldiers who fought in the First World War
- Karoo Flavours… An enterprising local lady started this successful food shop a few years ago (contact Linda at 049 833 0024 or 087 702 5691 or 083 299 1785)
- The Veranda Coffee Shop… Drop in for your favourite beverage and some refreshments (contact Michelle at 073 909 5904)
- Pegasus Car Museum… See some well-kept vintage cars including a F1 racing car (contact Jurie at 073 909 59040
- Lizzy’s Khaya… For traditional cooking and ‘vetkoek’ (contact Lizzy at 084 342 1137)
- Addo Elephant Park… Further afield, but really worth a visit. About an hour’s drive from Noorspoort
